You have a nice plan. Climb two mountain peaks and then head to Devils Gate. That's quite a way towards the third peak already.
The Devils Gate didn't skip me. More on that later...
The execution was very fun. Very different from mountain hiking. The first peak was manageable, but the second and highest mountain was really tough. Very steep. There was also a warning at the bottom that the mountain would be very challenging and dangerous. But yes, that's how I am with these things, it also sounds like a nice challenge. After all, you have a plan, and you're going to do it.
It turned out to be quite doable, but indeed tough with some thrilling parts.
In some sections, it wasn't hiking anymore but climbing. You know; with your feet and hands.
The view was particularly beautiful. You saw everything.
Then down and back up to the Devils Gate.
In line for a little photo.
Then all the way down over a sherpa path. Yes, you read it right, the Norwegians really flew in Sherpas to create beautiful mountain paths with staircases made of large stone pieces.
Going down the beautiful path, I noticed I couldn't walk as straight anymore. I had the greatest difficulty with the descent. Down in the village, I limped a bit to a place to eat. Sometimes I'd kind of buckle a bit in my knees.
Everything else is okay, though, this is what you get when the intensity turns out to be a bit higher than expected. And climbing is really different from cycling. So actually, I climbed three mountains without training, but I did manage to do it.
Took a taxi for the last kilometers back to the campsite.
So yes, the Devils Gate didn't skip me.
But I am glad I did it!
Now it turns out I strained my muscle a bit during the descent. Fortunately, cycling is somewhat okay, but walking is still a bit difficult.
