The beginning is there, I have now covered 2500km. Almost 10% of the total roughly✌️
Also climbed 20,000 meters, most of which in Norway.
When you set that against what I practiced in the Netherlands, it's enormous. In the Netherlands, I went cycling 50km once every two weeks. That was sweating hahaha 😅
The biggest improvement in condition took place in the first 10 days of cycling in Norway.
I still remember how tough I found the first steep climb of 30 meters. That was mostly walking.
There is no secret behind this or tactic. There's only one method to do it, and that is to keep going.
When you do this, you live in the moment and there's no need to let off steam. It was different in the Netherlands, I was more like a steam train...
Yes, the route so far ... I haven't done it quickly but usually got a lot of satisfaction from it. I also absolutely need enough rest so I take that regularly.
When I just entered Sweden, I found it mentally tough, no people, bad weather, short nights, cold and not suitable equipment. I really felt lonely then.
But everything gets used to, I haven't spoken to a cyclist in Sweden yet. I am alone almost every day but I feel fine with that. I no longer feel lonely or anything here. It actually feels very free. Just okay.
I see this as a good test for the winter where I hope to ride in an area where it becomes even more dependent on yourself and where you won't see another person for days. I am already looking forward to the desert the most throughout the route. Although 2.5 months in the Sahara seems endless again. Quite strange actually, cycling around the Arctic Circle, thinking about the desert.
Much further than the desert I do not think. It's too far away. However, I think about climate zones and such.
I always had November 1st as a strict requirement to be in Morocco but have let that go now. I now have better equipment to be freer in that and I'm not in a hurry!
We'll see how it goes.
